Toba exchange out of order

Published July 27, 2005

TOBA TEK SINGH, July 26: The district headquarter lost contact with the outside world on Tuesday afternoon when the main telephone exchange stopped working.

The telephone and internet contact of the citizens, government offices, banks and private companies remained disconnected for more than two hours.

When contacted, a PTCL official said the exchange had not been working properly due to low voltage being supplied by the FESCO. The exchange has been running on power generator for almost seven days which developed a fault and stopped working in the evening.

He said the telephone service has been restored after the repair of generator.—Correspondent
