GUJRANWALA, July 26: The Alliance for the Restoration of Democracy (ARD) will nominate joint candidates for the local bodies election in the district.

This was said by Punjab PML-N chief organizer Ghulam Dastgir Khan, PPP city president Lala Muhammad Idrees and other prominent leaders of the alliance while speaking at a meeting here on Tuesday.

They claimed that the people had rejected the ruling party.

“Our six panels of UC nazims and naib nazims have elected unopposed in the city.”

They have urged the election commission to hold fair and transparent elections and prevent the ruling party from using unfair means.

DIES: PML-N former district president and ex-chairman of Ghakkhar municipality, Mir Muhammad Bashir, died here on Tuesday. He was 80. He was laid to rest in local graveyard. Scores of people, including MNAs and MPAs, attended his funeral prayers.
