TIMERGARA: The butchers on Monday held a protest demonstration against the Timergara municipal administration for increasing taxes on them.

The protesting butchers led by district councillor Alam Zeb chanted slogans against the TMA and demanded immediate withdrawal of the taxes.

Speaking on the occasion, representatives of the protesters said the TMA had increased taxes on them by 100 per cent which was not acceptable. They said the butchers would close their businesses in the city if the TMA did not withdraw the increase in taxes.

RPO VISIT: Regional police officer, Malakand, Mohammad Saeed Khan Wazir on Monday visited the families of two martyred police officials in Talash and offered Fateha for the departed souls.

The RPO along with Lower Dir district police officer Arif Shahbaz Wazir also laid floral wreaths on the graves of Hidayatullah and Khalilur Rehman who embraced martyrdom in the DI Khan suicide bomb blast the other day.

Talking to journalists, the RPO said several police and army soldiers belonging to Talash had rendered their lives for sake of the country. He said such sacrifices would not go waste and would bring fruits for the coming generation.

TEACHER ELECTROCUTED: A schoolteacher identified as Qari Mehboob Shah, a resident of Rani area, was electrocuted while removing a fault from a transformer on Monday.

Residents said the village transformer had developed a minor fault and officials of Pesco were informed to remove it, but no one came. They said the deceased along with other youth tried to remove the fault, but was electrocuted.
