UPPER DIR: The Upper Dir district administration has directed departments concerned to take precautionary measures to avert any devastation caused by monsoon rains.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority has predicted flash floods in Upper Dir during monsoon rains and directed the district administration to take steps to cope with any emergency.

Two flash floods hit the Kohistan area recently, injuring three people and damaging roads and infrastructure.

Assistant commissioner, Dir, Ubaid-ur-Rahman Dogar issued the directives during a meeting convened on the directives of deputy commissioner Abdul Hameed Khan.

Mr Dogar directed the departments’ heads to make prior preparations to any destruction caused by the monsoon rains.

Meanwhile, the assistant commissioner visited various filling stations in Dir tehsil and checked prices of petrol and diesel. He fined some filling stations’ owners for overcharging the consumers.
