TIMERGARA: Pakistan Peoples Party’s Punjab chapter president Qamar Zaman Kaira has said that the National Accountability Bureau is being used for political victimisation and the arrest of opposition leaders is only to divert masses’ attention from real issues in the country.

He said this while talking to mediapersons at Sarai Payeen in Lower Dir here on Thursday after a dinner hosted for him by PPP activist Tahir Khan.

Former federal minister Najmuddin Khan, former provincial minister Bakht Baidar Khan and other party activists were also present on the occasion.

PPP leader calls for across-the-board accountability

Mr Kaira said that all the opposition parties wanted across-the-board accountability. He alleged that the cases of politicians who joined the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf had been quashed.

The PPP stalwart claimed that all segments of the society like traders, farmers, government employees and industrial workers had been protesting against price hike and unemployment. He claimed that the rulers would not be able to remain in power for long.

He said that the no-confidence motion against Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani would not be dropped.

Mr Kaira said that his party had done a great job against terrorism in the country when it was in power. He said that resettlement of about three million internally displaced persons was a tough task that was fulfilled by then PPP government.

About the provincial assembly elections in tribal districts, he said that PPP was taking part in this election despite knowing that it would not be fair and transparent.
