ISLAMABAD, July 25: Pakistan tennis chief, Syed Dilawar Abbas is to run for a slot on the Board of Directors of the Asian Tennis Federation (ATF) in elections that take place this week.

Secretary of the national tennis federation PTF, Rashid Khan said on Monday that Dilawar stood a good chance of winning. “I am quite hopeful of his success.”

Rashid is set to leave for Bangkok on Tuesday to attend the Annual General Meeting of the ATF slated for July 28 and 29.

While in Bangkok, the PTF officials plan to ask the ATF for a top coach who could train the coaches in Pakistan. A similar arrangement for training referees will also be sought.

Meanwhile, PTF has sent all details of its tennis complex it plans to build in Islamabad to the game’s international governing body, the ITF.

The PTF is seeking financial help from the ITF for the project. The details including the complex’s design and the estimated expenses were dispatched after Rashid’s interaction with relevant officials during the recent ITF meeting in Prague.
