LAHORE, July 25: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has taken notice of the abrupt cancellation of a three-match series between Pakistan XI and World XI in Saudi Arabia. The PCB director cricket operations, Saleem Altaf, said on Monday that the way the matches were cancelled was sad and the board would take appropriate measures to avert such an occurrence.

The Pakistan XI was to play a one-day series against the World XI (two in Jeddah and one in Riyadh) but the latter failed to arrive in Saudi Arabia where the Pakistanis had already assembled.

The matches were arranged by former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif. The PCB official, however, claimed the players had proceeded to Saudi Arabia with the approval of the board chairman.

Meanwhile, twenty-seven cricketers will attend the training camp being held here from Aug 1 to finalise the Pakistan Academy squad for the forthcoming home series against their South African counterpart.

The visitors will play two four-day and three one-day matches during the tour from Aug 11 to 28.

The probables will report to coach Sabih Azhar at the National Cricket Academy here on July 31 for the training camp.

Probables: Hasan Raza, Kamran Sajid, Shahid Yousuf, Khurram Manzoor, Aamir Sajjad, Nasir Jamshed, Khalid Latif, Agha Sabir, Adnan Raza, Jalat Khan, Rizwan Akbar, Rajesh Ramesh, Yasir Ali, Najaf Shah, Fahad Masood, Muhammad Irshad, Zohaib Ahmad, Uzairul Haq, Janisar Khan, Fawad Alam, Mansoor Amjad, Tariq Mahmood, Tahir Khan, Shoaib Leghari, Zulqarnain Haider, Adnan Akmal, Abdul Mannan.
