Nawaz, Fareed strike for KRL

FAISALABAD, July 25: KRL defeated Wohaib/Panther by 4-3 goals in the 1st National football Challenge Cup played at Panther Sports Complex 41-JB on Monday.

Qurban of Wohaib/Panther put his side ahead with a sixth minute strike. However, this proved short-lived as Allah Nawaz of KRL grabbed the equalizer in the 33rd minute.

KRL once again regained the lead two minutes later with Allah Nawaz netting his second goal. Fareed virtually sealed victory for KRL slotting home the third goal in the 42nd minute. Retaliating Wohaib/Pather made it 3-2, Muzammal netting in the 71st minute.

Fareed restored KRL’s two-goal lead with his second strike in the 74th minute but Muzzaffar gave home side hopes of salvaging a draw scoring in the 82nd minute of the play. However, KRL defence stood firm in the closing minutes to ensure maximum points for the visitors.

Tuesday’s fixture: Wapda v Navy.
