LAHORE, July 25: Hantex, a Thailand textile company, has expressed its interest in investment in textile and banking sectors in Pakistan. Talking to Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry acting president Khalid Rafique here on Monday, Hantext President Monchai Ponstabadee said that being a new Asean member Pakistan had a big attraction for foreign investors, as structural reforms, macroeconomic policies and financial discipline had transformed it into a stable and growing economy.

Mr Monchai, who is visiting Pakistan with a five-member delegation, said that his company was also exploring possibilities to invest in joint ventures in tourism, housing, hotel and construction sectors. He said that Pakistani businessmen should also visit Thailand to explore business opportunities.

The LCCI acting president said that Thailand and Pakistan enjoyed steady economic and trade relations with strong commitment to deal with global issues collectively.

Pakistan was exporting textile yarn, fabrics, cotton waste, petroleum crude, leather and leather products, fish and fish preparations and surgical instruments to Thailand and importing organic chemicals, refined polypropylene, rubber products, electrical machinery, paper and paperboard, non-ferrous metals, iron steel, betel leaves, chemicals, dying and tanning materials, inorganic chemicals and professional instruments.

He said that Hantex delegation was visiting Pakistan at a time when it had made a broad-based economic recovery and was entering a new phase of development, offering opportunities for investment and joint ventures in textiles, information technology, tourism, hotel, pharmaceutical, housing and construction sectors.
