LAHORE: Dust-thundershower/rain, with few heavy falls, accompanied by gusty winds occurred at scattered places in Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala, Hazara divisions and Kashmir on Tuesday.

The Met department forecast more rain activity in the next 24 hours as the monsoon currents started getting stronger.

It said Kakul recorded 51mm of rain, Murree 55, Gujranwala 33, Jhelum 29, Sialkot City 25, Narowal 13, Mangla 12, Gujrat and Lahore City 5, Islamabad, Rawalpindi 2, Garidupatta 35, Kotli 9, Muzaffarabad 6 and Rawalakot 3.

The Flood Forecasting Division said a westerly wave over Kashmir and adjoining areas continued to persist on Tuesday. Moderate moist currents from the Arabian Sea were penetrating sub-mountainous areas of Punjab and Kashmir up to 5,000 feet.

It said the combination of the two will generate scattered thunderstorm/rain with isolated heavy falls expected over the upper catchments of all the major rivers along with Rawalpindi, Gujranwala and Lahore divisions in the next 24 hours.

Isolated thunderstorm/rain is expected over Faisalabad, Sargodha, Mul-tan, Bahawalpur, DG Khan, Sibbi and Zhob divisions.

The river Kabul at Nowshera was in medium and the Indus at Chashma was in low flood while all the other major rivers were flowing below low-flood level. Moderate flooding is expected in the nullahs of the rivers Ravi and Chenab during the next 24 hours.

The Met department expected dust-thundershower/rain (with few heavy falls) accompanied by gusty winds at scattered places in Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha, Faisala-bad, Hazara divisions, Islamabad and Kashmir.
