NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, July 24: Farmers of Kendhar, Kandiaro, Larik and Budka minors took out a procession in Kandiaro town on Saturday to protest against selling of irrigation water.

About 150 farmers from tail-end areas staged a sit-in outside the office of the DDO revenue for about 50 minutes.

Rasool Bux, Maulvi Ramzan and Essa Janwari led the protesters.

They said there was a medium flood in the Indus River but farmers were deprived of their share of water.

They alleged that executive engineer Jam Mitho and SDO Bhooral Shah were demanding Rs100,000 for supplying water to them.

An official of the Sindh irrigation department told Dawn that farmers were being supplied water under a rotation programme because some of the minors had not been desilted hence they could not carry water without closing others.
