LAHORE: Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has said that historical buildings will be utilised for promoting tourism.

In a statement issued here on Sunday, Mr Buzdar said that in order to generate resources, the government would ensure the best utilisation of public assets and historic buildings to attract tourists. He said that opening up of official rest houses for the public was an exemplary step of the government and people would benefit from the best boarding and lodging facilities there.

Mr Buzdar said that promotion of tourism was a vital point of his government’s economic policy as new tourist points would be developed in the province under a comprehensive tourism plan. For the purpose, a programme for providing all the required facilities at tourist spots was being speedily implemented, while promotion of tourism would also create job opportunities for locals, he added.

Earlier, talking to a delegation, the chief minister said that the economic situation of the country would change if the looted money was brought back from abroad. He predicted that the hard time would pass soon as his government was working on economic discipline to bring stability in the sector.

Meanwhile, the chief minister expressed grief over the demise of Dr Khairat Ibne Rasa, a former vice chancellor of Punjab University.

In his condolence message, the CM extended sympathies to the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace for the departed soul. He said that educational and administrative services of Dr Rasa for the Punjab University would always be remembered.
