HYDERABAD, July 24: State Bank Governor Dr Ishrat Hussein has said that trade deficit of the country is increasing which is being bridged through remittances.

He was speaking at a ceremony held here to launch a book, Feminism Aur Hum. The function was organized by the Women and Development Association here on Saturday.

Lauding services of renowned educationist, Apa Shams Abbasi, the SBP chief said such women could play a crucial role for promoting the cause of women’s education.

He expressed concern over the low rate of literacy among women and said that developed nations always achieved advancement through increased literacy.

Culture secretary Mehtab Akbar Rashdi, Sindh University Vice-Chancellor Mazharul Haq Siddiqui, Fehmida Riaz, Anadil Rashdi and Prof Mariam Noohani spoke on the occasion.
