KHAR: Pakistan Peoples Party provincial vice-president Akhunzada Chattan said on Sunday that a large number of party workers would attend the public meeting of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari here in the border area of Bajaur on Monday (today).

Talking to mediapersons here, the PPP leader said that they had completed arrangements for the public meeting, which he claimed would be the largest in history of both Bajaur and Lower Dir districts.

Meanwhile, responding to the notice of district returning officer over his alleged violation of ECP’s code of conduct by calling a meeting of tribal elders a few days ago, deputy commissioner, Bajaur, Usman Mehsud clarified on Sunday that the meeting had no political agenda and it was a routine gathering only aimed at getting support of the elders for peace and normalcy in the region.

In a statement issued by his office, the DC said that it was a routine meeting of the A-category elders and notables of different areas of the district, which included MNA Gul Dad Khan who was also an elder of the same category.

It added that the deputy commissioner had the authority and right to call such a meeting anytime either before the elections or after the elections as he was the administrative head of the district.
