KARACHI: The Sindh High Court has set aside a collective sentence of 15 years handed down to a man by an antiterrorism court in attempted murder, explosives and illicit weapons cases.

The trial court had found Syed Rehan Zaidi guilty of attacking a police party and carrying explosives and unlicensed weapons at the time of his arrest in October 2017 in Mochko.

The convict, through his lawyer, challenged his sentences before the SHC and after hearing arguments from both sides and examining the record and proceedings of the case, a two-judge appellate bench of the SHC headed by Justice Naim­atullah Phulpoto allowed the appeal and set aside the verdict of the trial court.
