GUJRAT: The Mandi Bahauddin police arrested at least six PML-N workers for making preparations for a rally at Cinema Ground near the DHQ Hospital to be addressed by their leader Maryam Nawaz tomorrow (Sunday).

The local PML-N chapter had announced holding the rally for Maryam at Cinema Ground in the city; however, the district administration and police did not grant it permission to hold the rally at the said venue. They offered the party the Sports Stadium, Rasul Road, as the venue for the rally.

The PML-N insisted on holding the rally at the venue of its choice and it shifted hundreds of chairs to the Cinema Ground on Friday evening where party workers got busy arranging the chairs. However, the police raided the venue and arrested at least six workers and confiscated the chairs.

PML-N MNA Nasir Iqbal Bosal criticised the local administration’s action and announced that the rally would be held as per the already announced schedule at 6pm on Sunday.
