Balochistan government to celebrate 'culture day'

Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan Aliyani on Friday announced that the government will celebrate 'Balochistan culture day' to promote the province’s literature, culture and ancient languages.

The chief minister, who made the announcement while addressing the three-day International Pashto Seminar in Quetta, said that his government has planned to promote languages and culture of Balochistan.

"Literature, language and culture form the identity of every nation," Jam Kamal Khan said.

He highlighted the example of the Gulf states, saying that they (the Gulf states) protected their cultures, languages and even food despite the influence of Western countries.

Earlier in the day, Pashto Academy chief Syed Khair Mohammad Arif apprised the chief minister about the history of the academy.

The chief minister announced Rs2 million in addition to regular grants for the academy.

Pashto literary figures and authors from across the country, Afghanistan and other parts of the world participated in the seminar.

The attendees presented their papers about the Pashto language, its writers, authors and poets during the seminar.
