SHANGLA: National Assembly Standing Committee on Communications chairman MNA Ibadullah Khan has directed the contractors to expedite construction work on both Ranyal and Kormang bridges. The work has been continuing at slow pace for the last several years.

Accompanied by PML-N local leaders, the MNA visited the construction sites of bridges here the other day.

Mr Ibadullah, who was elected as MNA from NA-10, Shangla, inspected the work on both the major bridges over the Khan Khwar at Kerai and Ranyal. “These bridges connect three union councils with rest of the district and presently the commuters use ramshackle bridges to cross the river. Several traffic accidents have occurred on these bridges in which precious lives were lost,” he told mediapersons.

The MNA said that the citizens would benefit once construction of the new bridges was completed. He added that it was a longstanding issue of the local people so the contractors should complete the projects within the scheduled period.

On this occasion, Mr Ibadullah listened to the residents and assured them that their problems would be resolved soon.

COMPENSATION: The district administration distributed here the other day compensation cheques among heirs of three cousins who died due to lightning at Lelonai area of Alpuri tehsil.

The cheques were distributed at the DC office, Shangla, where DC Fayaz Sherpao and district councillor from Lelonai, Intikhab Alam, were also present.

The cheques for Rs300,000 each were given to the heirs of all the three deceased. On this occasion, Mr Sherpao asked the people to adopt precautionary measures during rain and lightning in the upcoming monsoon season to secure their lives.
