India to add 500GW renewable energy

NEW DELHI: India plans to add 500 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy to its electricity grid by 2030 in a bid to clean up air in its cities and lessen the rapidly growing economy’s dependence on coal, the government said on Tuesday.
“By 2030 India plans to establish 500GW of Renewable Energy capacity,” Anand Kumar, senior official at India’s renewable energy ministry, said in a statement.
“India would have installed 175GW of renewable energy capacity by 2022 without taking into account large hydro and 225GW including large hydro,” Kumar added.
India, the world’s third-largest emitter of greenhouse gases, has pledged to cut emissions and have clean energy account for at least 40 percent of its installed capacity by 2030, up from 21.4 per cent now, while looking to manage its energy appetite as its population becomes more prosperous.

Lot of development work going on to be Frank even though I have not voted Modi government. Should vote for him this time. I have to Seattle one thing there are 234000 mosques in India.We are peaceful as we don't need security to enter our mosques.All Muslim casts in India are same as per law.

India is self sufficient in Power Supply as of now and in next 10 Years, India will be ready to provide Power supply to all Electric Vehicles after removing all Diesel & Petrol run vehicles off the roads.

Being so much solar radiation through the year, pakistan should also join India in this renewable mission, but I don't know why pakistani policymakers are moving towards coal more and more.
Recent auctions for solar power , went for 2.3 per unit....Ie 5 rupees in pkr. I have read reports that pakistan purchase power at 18 rupees per unit. So why is that case?

Thorium based Nuclear will start yielding power soon as well, the design is safe, the power is uninterrupted, waste is recycled, and remaining decays in 300 years instead of tens times that with conventional reactors.
Renewable is good but there are issues of space required, storage and peak availability. Thorium based nuclear will surge in coming decades, 2020 will see the first reactor reaching criticality and begin producing power. Renewable will also play a big role, 50-50 perhaps.

Bangladesh ---- one of the world's fastest growing economies ---- will buy over 10,000 MW electricity from India in next 2-3 years. Also, Bangladesh will soon import around 9,000 MW hydropower electricity from Nepal using the Indian grid. Energy hungry Bangladesh will also invest in 20-30 Nepal/ Bhutanese major hydropower projects to satisfy its power demand.
