PESHAWAR: The students of private schools got top three positions in the results of Secondary School Certificate examinations conducted by Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Peshawar.

All the top three position holders belong to the science group. Fozia Absar, a student of Forward Public School (Girls) Hayatabad Peshawar, clinched first position by getting 1,060 marks out of 1,100.

Malik Wahab Ali, a student of Peshawar Model School Boys-V, and Lubaba Yunas, a student of Peshawar Model Girls High School-II Dalazak Road Peshawar, shared the second position with 1056 marks.

Sidra Ubaid, a student of Peshawar Model Girls High School-II Dalazak Road Peshawar, got third position by getting 1,055 marks.

The results were announced in a ceremony held at Peshawar’s board building that was attended by the secretary of elementary and secondary education department, Arshed Khan, officials of the board, the position holder students and their parents.

The arts group was topped by Idrees Bakhtiar with 984 marks, who is student of Usmania Children Academy, Usmania Colony Nouthia Jadeed Peshawar. Similarly, Mah Roosha Khan, a student of University Model School Peshawar, got second position in the arts group by getting 976 marks and Zainab, a student of Agriculture University Public School and College (Girs) Peshawar, got third position by grabbing 966 marks.

The pass percentage stood at 83.56 per cent as 74,877 students appeared in the examinations and out of them 62,568 qualified the examinations.

Addressing the ceremony, the education secretary, who was chief guest on the occasion, said that provincial government was taking all steps to improve the examination system in all education boards.

Recently, he said, the provincial government decided to conduct the examinations for 8th graders through education boards to improve the system and ensure quality of education.

So far, there was no mechanism in place in the education department to judge the students learning outcome from 1st to 8th grade as the students of such grades were promoted through internal examinations being conducted by their school administration.

The assessment of the 5th graders and the board examination of the 8th graders would enable the education department to know the students learning outcome before reaching the SSC examination.
