LAHORE: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Tuesday sealed three coffee outlets and two warehouses during raids in the city.

PFA Director General retried Capt Muhammad Usman and his team continued its crackdown on adulterators and unhygienic food points in Gulberg. The operation continued for seven hours.

The team confiscated 14,568 kilogramme of unwholesome food, including 1,140kg expired coffee, 702kg matcha green tea, 447kg white chocolate, 480kg imported tea and 7,954kg local and imported coffee flavours, tea leaves and powder.

The team also seized 352kg different powders and syrups, 1,210kg special Dutch hot chocolate powder, 1,620kg French deluxe hot vanilla drink powder, 1,328kg hot chocolate and 635kg dark chocolate.

It has registered cases against the owners of warehouses and outlets on charges of fraud and deception.

Mr Usman said the raids were conducted on a tip-off of their vigilance cell and action was being taken against anyone who jeopardises public health.

Sources claimed that three outlets of Coffee Beans and Tea Leaf as well as its warehouse in Gulberg were sealed after the PFA team found expired items there.
