LAHORE: PML-N MPA Hina Pervaiz Butt has filed a reference with the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to seek disqualification of Minister of State for Climate Change Zartaj Gul for misuse of authority of office by the latter to the benefit of her sister.

Miss Gul had as minister written to the federal interior secretary recommending appointment of her sister Shabnam Gul, an assistant professor in a women college in Lahore, as National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) director.

Ms Butt pleaded in the reference, sent through the office of the National Assembly speaker, that Ms Gul stood disqualified under Articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution for misusing her office to get her sister posted to a government post in violation of merit.
