LARKANA: Workers of Pakistan Peoples Party and its sister organisations held protests in Sindh towns on Wednesday to protest against the arrest of party leaders Asif Ali Zardari and his sister Faryal Talpur and termed the NAB action “selective” accountability by “selected” rulers.
In Larkana, party leaders Abdul Fatah Bhutto, Khair Mohammad Shaikh, acting mayor Anwer Luhar and others staged a sit-in against the arrest of their leaders in what they saw as fake cases.
They said that they were confident Mr Zardari and his sister would not bow to “blackmailing tactics” of PTI-led government.
The arrests were politically motivated and proof of the government’s failed policies on all fronts, they said.
They said that PTI government’s days were numbered and demanded early release of both leaders.
BADIN: A large number of PPP workers gathered in Talhar to register their protest against the arrest of their leaders.
The enraged workers marched on different roads before staging a demonstration on Badin-Hyderabad road for two hours.
PPP MPA Mir Allah Bux Talpur who led the protest condemned “selective” accountability by “selected” rulers and said that those who believed in strengthening democracy were not afraid of arrests.
He said that nobody was allowed to topple Sindh government through unconstitutional means and advised leaders of GDA to take rest for next four years instead of daydreaming to get power by hook or by crook.
He said that people of Sindh had only voted for PPP candidates in last general election and they were ready to go to any length if “political victimisation” did not stop against their leaders.
He said that Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government was trying to divert peoples attention away from real issues and keep them busy with unrelated issues.
Pir Amjad Siddiqui, Haji Mohammad Ramzan Chandio and other PPP leaders termed the arrests political tool to blackmail the party leadership.
They condemned the arrest of the leaders in strong words and termed it shameful.
