KARACHI, July 20: Off-spinner Misbah Khan completed a one-man demolition of Zone-I by claming a match haul of 13 wickets that inspired Zone-VI to a crushing victory by 253 runs in the three-day A.K. Majeed memorial cricket championship match at the TMC ground on Wednesday.

Misbah, who captured eight for 37 in 28.4 overs to spin out Zone-I for 179 in the first innings, was again the tormentor as he helped himself to sensational figures of five for eight in six overs as Zone-I crashed to 58 all out in the second innings while chasing a mammoth target of 312 on a last day pitch heavily favouring the slow bowlers.

Misbah eventually ended up with match figures of 13 for 45 in 34.4 overs. Pacer Anwar Ali was the other major wicket-taker with three for 28 in the second innings.

The other highlight of the day was an unbeaten century by Zone-VI skipper Waqas Haroon. Resuming at 30 in his team’s second innings tally of 144 for three, Waqas struck 12 fours and a brace of sixes in reaching 101 off 149 deliveries that enabled him to declare at 259 for five.

Summarised scores:
