KOHAT: A naib nazim was injured when he was attacked by unknown armed men near his house in Tappi area on Bannu Road here on Sunday night.

The naib nazim, Shahid Mehmood from JUI-F, told police in the KDA teaching hospital that he was returning home after evening prayers from a mosque when unknown assailants opened fire at him. He said he received bullet injuries on his left hand and was taken to hospital.

The Sadder police said the nazim did not accuse anybody of the attack as he had no enmity with anyone. The police registered a case against the assailants and launched an operation in the area for arrest of the culprits, but could not apprehend any suspect till filing of this report on Monday evening.

WATER SUPPLY SCHEMES: MPA Shah Faisal performed ground breaking of water supply schemes worth Rs70 million for rural areas of Hangu on Monday.

Talking to journalists, he said with the completion of water supply schemes thousands of people of Bilimina, Kotki, Nooran Baz Koorana, Shnawari-2 and Togh Chappar areas would get clean water. He said that the government believed in practical work instead of politics of hollow slogans.

The MPA said gas would be supplied soon from the local sources to all the inhabitants of the district to rid them of costly LNG and firewood.
