LAHORE: Kot Lakhpat jail authorities on Saturday allowed Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Maryam Nawaz to meet her father and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.

She was allegedly not allowed to meet Mr Sharif during Eid by jail authorities.

The PML-N had alleged that the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) government in Punjab did not let Mr Sharif meet his mother and daughter over the Eid days at the behest of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Ms Maryam, along with her husband and two children, met Mr Sharif for more than two hours.

After her meeting, Ms Maryam — who is vice president of the PML-N — said in a tweet: “MNS’s personal physicians are of the view that emergency medicines prescribed by PIC drs can cause sudden drop in BP (blood pressure) & stroke as he is already on maximum dose. Adding sublinguals must not be done without 24/7 monitoring which is not possible in jail. ECG & fresh labs must be done.”

Mr Sharif’s personal physician Dr Adnan Khan also said: “Mr Sharif is having uncontrolled high blood pressure for which requires further work-up, labs & ECG. PIC advised sublingual meds fearing hypertensive emergency, better to be avoided in unsupervised Jail environment. Ideally he needs specialised care.”
