GUJRAT: The PML-Q has advised the federal and Punjab governments to show restraint and try to handle the opposition parties’ planned protest with patience and consultation as they had a right to protest.

The party said there was no government that did not face problems, and that was the real test. In such circumstances a government must work with farsightedness.

These views were expressed by PML-Q chief and former prime minister Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi while talking to reporters here during the Eid holidays. PML-Q MNAs Moonis Elahi, Chaudhry Hussain Elahi and others were also present.

Mr Elahi said that everyone had their own problems and grievances, which the opponents could exploit, adding that it was time to work wisely, and also advised the government to provide relief to the people, not pain in the budget. He added that an advertisement should be placed in the media for nabbing Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Shahbaz Sharif, who was on the run, which was a point to ponder for the PML-N.

Mr Hussain said that the past governments had destroyed the country due to which the circumstances were bad now, however the present set-up was making efforts to ensure success of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

He felicitated the nation on the occasion of Eidul Fitr, saying people should not forget the martyrs of Pakistan Army and civil institutions on this festive occasion, who offered their sacrifices for the country.

He further maintained that there should be improvement in Indo-Pak relations. Talking about the reduction in the military’s budget, he said that they were proud of the army.

Earlier, both leaders and their family members offered Eid prayers and visited the graves of their elders. People hailing from all walks of life as well as PML-Q leaders and workers exchanged Eid greetings with them.
