MALAKAND, Jan 13: A meeting of the District Development Committee, Malakand held under the chairmanship of District Nazim Malakand, Eng Mohammad Humayun Khan, on Saturday approved many development projects during the current fiscal year.

The meeting held detailed discussion on new development schemes and approved a water supply scheme worth Rs 20 million for Agra and its surrounding villages of Totai, Inzari, Bararo Sar, Loya Agra, Cum Agra, Koz Naranji, Bar Narangi, Selai Patay and Babagano Chum Ghund.

The meeting approved another scheme of Rs 150 million for education sector under which furniture would be provided to all the  academic institutions in Malakand. The meeting also approved a project of construction  and metalling of various roads,  including Batkhela-Totakan road, Thana-Amandara road, Thana Bazaar road, Dargai-Harichand road, Harichand Badraga road, and many others on which Rs 31 million would be spent this year. It was also decided that the existing civil dispensary at Badraga would be upgraded to BHU on which about Rs 3 million would be utilised.

The meeting also debated many projects to be initiated through Malakand Rural Development Programme which have been worked out and would be finalised very soon. Water supply schemes were also approved for Batkhela, Thana, Dheri and Jalagram, Mayar Pattak, Salgaro,Kharkay, Mir Akbar Shah Koroona and many other villages of Malakand.

The District Nazim Engineer Mohammad Hamayun Khan expressed his optimism that Malakand would be become a developed part of the province. He said he was in touch with the high officials of both the provincial and federal governments to get more funds for the projects of Malakand.
