GUJRANWALA, July 19: About 200 filed nomination papers for nazim, naib nazim and general councillors on the second day of the process on Tuesday. As many as 119 people filed nomination papers on Monday while the aspirants nominated by political parties would file their papers on Wednesday as party leadership was still busy in making panels. Meanwhile, MNAs and MPAs of the ruling party, the PPP, the MMA and other parties gathered in the city to boost the morale of their nominees.
There are 188 union councils in the district.
GUIDELINES: The Aurat Foundation is guiding the candidates planning to contest local body election on how to file nomination papers, district coordinator Malik Muhammad Jamil Awan said at a camp outside the sessions court on Tuesday.
He said his organization was not supporting the ruling party, but serving the people without any discrimination.
CONTEMPT NOTICE: The district and sessions judge on Tuesday issued a contempt of court notice to an SHO for not appearing in connection with a case and summoned him on the next date of hearing.
It is stated that the Kamoki police SHO was summoned by court, but he failed to turn up.
MAN DIES: An elderly man lost his life after falling from the roof of a factory in the vegetable market area here on Tuesday.
Sadiq went to the roof of factory to drain out rain water. But he slipped and fell on the ground and died on the spot.
Police removed the body to the DHQ hospital.
