QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan Alyani has said that the federal government is establishing a special industrial zone in the Hub area of Lasbela district with a capacity of 100 new industrial units and it will create ample job opportunities for the masses.

Talking to newsmen in Hub after laying the foundation stone of a double-carriage track in Hub on Wednesday, he said the government was doing its best to improve conditions at Hub industrial estate.

The chief minister said that the provincial government would set up special economic zones in different areas of the province and would encourage the private sector for this purpose.

Federal government plans to establish 100 units

He said the provincial government was experiencing a shortage of funds for development of the province as it collected just Rs15 billion yearly from different sectors in the form of taxes and duties. He said the government was trying to increase its revenue so that more development work could be carried out in the province.

He said that all unnecessary schemes of the current PSDP had been abandoned and the government was focusing on completion of the under-construction projects which could not be completed despite passage of 10 years.

“Around 400 incomplete development schemes will be completed in the current financial year,” the chief minister said.

He said that in the new PSDP those development schemes would be included which could be completed in three years and not more than that period.

Referring to job opportunities in the province, he said the government was creating jobs and recruiting around 20,000 people against different posts lying vacant in different government departments and of these posts 14,000 posts are vacant in the education department.

The Managing Director of Lasbela Industrial Estate Development Authority (LIEDA), Aslam Tareen, briefed the chief minister about the working and problems of LIEDA.

Later, the chief minister went to the residence of Balochistan Assembly Speaker Mir Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo and condoled with him over the death of his father and offered Fateha for the departed soul.
