CHARSADDA: The security forces in a search and strike operation arrested at least 20 suspected persons, including three proclaimed offenders, and recovered weapons and ammunition from their possession here on Monday.

District police officer Irfanullah Khan said that the search operation was conducted in the limits of Tangi police station.

According to sources, the security forces were backed by the personnel of the Bomb Disposal Squad, Elite Force, women commandos, sniffer dogs and armoured personnel carriers.

During the action, at least 20 suspected persons were arrested and weapons and ammunition were recovered from their possession. The seizure included two hand grenades, six short machine guns and 17 SMG magazines, 367 live rounds of different bores, five pistols and five magazines and four guns of different bores.

The sources said that the arrested men also included three proclaimed offenders who were wanted to the police in different cases. They were shifted to an unknown place for interrogation.
