GUJAR Khan is a tehsil having a huge population with 36 union councils and is situated in the centre of G.T. Road.

As a result, there are often accidents in which people get injured on a daily basis. In cases of traumatic injuries and cardiac problems, people of Gujar Khan are often referred out of city. Many of them die while being shifted to Rawalpindi because there is no trauma center in Gujar Khan.

Retired Lt Gen Khalid Maqbool during his tenure as Punjab governor approved a fully-equipped trauma centre in Gujar Khan. A new building was built and former Punjab chief minister Pervaiz Elahi inaugurated the trauma centre many years ago. After spending such a huge amount the trauma center is still not functional. The elected MPAs of Gujar Khan ran their election campaign on the promise of a functional trauma centre. Now it should be the first priority of the Punjab government to make this trauma centre operational.
