MINGORA: The Swat police here on Friday claimed to have arrested the man who killed his wife Mina, a famous dancer and singer, on Tuesday last.

Mingora city DSP Zahir Shah told mediapersons that the suspect Shaukat was arrested after three days of the incident in which he allegedly shot his wife Mina dead in Banr area over money dispute.

“The police arrested the culprit who has already confessed to his crime,” he claimed and added that further investigation was underway. The DSP said that the incident took place over their personal dispute and the artist community was safe in Swat.

He said that peace prevailed all over Swat district and steps had been taken for security of the artist community.

SHOPKEEPERS FINED: The district administration here on Friday fined over 50 shopkeepers and sent three others to jail for overcharging and selling substandard food items.

During checking, the teams of district administration, halal food authority and special price magistrate also imposed fines and discarded 250kg of substandard milk in different areas. Similarly, 450kg substandard chicken meat was also destroyed by the officials.

Meanwhile, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority claimed to have arrested a group which was bringing a large quantity of meat of ill and young animals to Swat.

Several shops of butchers were raided in Mingora where meat of young animals was also found. An official said that legal action had been taken against the butchers.

Deputy commissioner, Swat, Saqib Raza Aslam said that legal action would be taken against the shopkeepers and traders selling substandard food items. He said that the price magistrates and district food controllers had been asked to be extra vigilant during Ramazan to check the sale of substandard food items.
