KOHAT: The commissioner, Kohat division, Abdul Jabbar Shah formally inaugurated sasta bazaar in Kohat city at old jail ground on Wednesday.

Earlier, during inspection of the sasta bazaar by the deputy commissioner and district police officer the customers decried the exorbitant prices of essential food items. An old man stopped them and complained that he could not buy food items for his family for Sehr and Iftar and all slogans of the administration about subsidised rates were false.

The officials had to leave the vicinity in rush assuring that everything would be all right soon. The businessmen had been provided free of cost stalls and other facilities so that they could provide items at discounted rates to the people during Ramazan.

DC inaugurates Iftar Dastarkhwan

The commissioner was accompanied by deputy commissioner Matiullah Khan and other administration officers.

He was told that all essential commodities of daily use would be available to the common man under one roof at subsidised rates of up to 20 per cent. Stalls of fruit and vegetable, meat and utility stores had been established in the said bazaar.

The commissioner visited the stalls and directed the shopkeepers to ensure provision of all edible items at subsidised rates to the people.

Meanwhile, the deputy commissioner inaugurated the “Iftar Dastarkhwan” under “Ihsas Programme” of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government. The “Dastarkhwan” has been established under the auspices of social welfare department at Company Bagh, Kohat.

Additional assistant commissioner Murad Hoti raided various bazaars on Wednesday and fined 14 butchers for overcharging the customers. He visited the main bazaar, Zargran Bazaar, Bannu Bazaar and Chicken Market and removed encroachments with the help of TMA staff.

TOURNAMENT: The night gala of tape ball cricket tournament promised by the CM’s adviser Ziaullah Bangash during Ramazan started here at Qilla Ground the other night.

Opposition leader in tehsil council and organiser of the tournament, Abdur Rehman, and PTI activists Malik Atif, Shafi Jan and Kaleemullah were prominent at the inauguration ceremony. The CM’s adviser will be the chief guest at the concluding ceremony.
