Four quacks’ clinics, two labs sealed in Dadu

DADU: A joint operation was launched against laboratories and quacks by the district administration and health department after declaring the figure of 32 HIV patients in Dadu district on Wednesday.

Four clinics of quacks and two laboratories were sealed in Dadu city and its adjoining areas on the day.

Led by Dadu Assistant Commissioner Nazeer Ahmed Soomro, mukhtiarkar Abdul Hameed Khokhar, as well as other relevant officials, a team of district administration and health officials raided various hospitals and laboratories.

An official told Dawn that those 32 cases were related with various parts of Dadu district and they were under treatment.

He said that from 2013 to March 2019, 32 cases had been confirmed at HIV/AIDS centre at the Civil Hospital of Dadu. He said the blood samples found positive were again collected from the patients and sent to the central lab in Karachi for confirmation. He said that after confirmation those cases were sent to HIV/AIDS treatment centre in Larkana. He said that crackdown was launched against blood banks, blood collection points, hospitals, maternity homes and quacks in Dadu city and surrounding areas. Clinics of quacks were also sealed at Chandan and in the city.
