SAHIWAL: A maternal uncle and two cousins turn out to be killers of the youth who was murdered at Chak 85/12-L, Chichawatni.

The Shahkot Police resolved the mystery of the murder and arrested the three suspects on Saturday.

The police traced the killers through a voice message the deceased, Azan, had sent to his father as he was trying to escape from the killers on his motorcycle.

The eyewitness said Azan was sitting at his friends’ residence in the nearby village.

He left on his motorcycle for home but was shot dead on the way. Some villagers spotted his body on a road near Chak 85/12-L.

His paternal uncle Mohsin Awan, Malik Faisal Awan and Talha were first who reached the spot and informed the police and Azan’s father.

Shahkot police had registered a case against unidentified persons. Later, police picked the deceased’s paternal uncle Mohsin Awan and two cousins Faisal and Talha.

During the investigation, the police found Mohsin involved in shooting down of his nephew over land.

Chichawatni Deputy Superintendent of Police Bahar Hussain told the media that the suspects were arrested within 24 hours of the murder. The police handed over the body to the family after the postmortem.

MURDER: A man killed his younger brother over a family dispute at Chak 42/EB, tehsil Arifwala.

The victim was identified as Abdul Rauf. Saddar Police arrested his brother, Nasir Iqbal, and recovered the murder weapon.

They sent the body to the Arifwala Tehsil Headquarters Hospital for autopsy.

VISIT: Punjab Food Minister Samiullah Chaudhry visited a wheat procurement centre at the local grain market.

He checked the centre’s record and wheat procurement mechanism. He met with the wheat farmers and assured them that the government would buy all their wheat.

He said the government had improved the payment mechanism and farmers would not face any difficulty in the process of selling their wheat while they would not have to visit banks.

The minister was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Zaman Wattoo and PTI leader Sheikh Muhammad Chohan.
