Semis staged at national boxing

ISLAMABAD: Showing brilliant performance, Army and Wapda pugilists moved into the finals of various categories on the penultimate day of the National Boxing Championships here at the Pakistan Sports Complex on Thursday.

Till the filing of this report, 14 bouts had been conducted, out of a total of 20 semi-finals which were to be staged on Thursday.

Out of them, Army boxers emerged winners in five events while Wapda pugilists registered victories in four. Navy boxers won semi-finals of four events.

Results (semi-finals):

Light flyweight 46-49kg: Mohammad Saeed (Army) bt Mohammad Mussawar (Railways); Daud Khan (Navy) bt Shoaib Rasheed (Sindh)

Flyweight 52kg: Attaullah (Wapda) bt Mehroz Ali (PAF); Syed Mohammad Asif (Army) winner.

Bantamweight 56kg: Naqeebullah (Wapda) bt Mohammad Ismail (Army); Naimatullah (PAF) bt Ahmed Afridi (Sindh)

Lightweight 60kg: Mohammad Ashraf (Railways) bt Sikandar Mirza (Balochistan); Ibrahim Khan (Army) bt Sheraz (Navy)

Light welterweight 64kg: Adnan Hassan (PAF) winner; Ali Ahmed (Wapda) bt Suleman Baloch (Army)

69kg: Gulzaib (Army) bt Abdul Samad (Balochistan); Saif Manan (Army) bt Saifullah (Wapda)
