DHAKA, Jan 12: Bangladesh Foreign Minister M. Morshad Khan has urged an immediate dialogue to bring a peaceful solution to the current Indo-Pakistan dispute.

Bangladesh hopes the two neighbouring countries would shun the path of confrontation and find out amicable solution to their misunderstandings, he said.

The BD foreign minister made these remarks here on Saturday at a press briefing held in connection with Chinese premier Zhu Rongji’s visit.

Bangladesh and China discussed the present crisis between India and Pakistan and hoped that both the countries would avoid confrontation and find out peaceful solution through dialogue, he said.

Bangladesh condemns any type of terrorism anywhere in the world, he added.

Bangladesh and China agreed to work together to ensure peace in the South Asian region. “We are also ready to participate in the reconstruction of Afghanistan with the international community,” Morshad Khan said.

When asked what will be the role of Bangladesh if war broke out between Pakistan and Bangladesh, Mr Said: “We don’t want any war. We want peaceful solution to any problem through dialogue.”

“China is the truest and trusted friend of Bangladesh,” he remarked, and went on to add: “Our friendship with China has no parallel.”—APP
