CHITRAL: To show solidarity with Justice Faez Isa, the local lawyers boycotted the court proceedings and took out a protest procession, which turned into a public meeting at PIA Chowk.

The rally was addressed by Chitral District Bar Association president Khurshid Mughal, Advocate Abdul Wali Khan, Advocate Sajidullah and others.

They pledged to stand for the independence of judiciary that was imperative for the bright future of the country.

All the lawyer leaders came hard on Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) and said that it failed to provide services to people in Chitral owing to which more than 21,000 consumers were facing trouble and agony.

Citing the example of mismanagement of Pesco, they said that the company failed to replace the transformer of New Bazaar area after its breakdown 10 days ago and cessation of electricity to the area including the district kutchery.

They said that the company had made life of its consumers a hell by sending inflated bills without meter reading. They said that 21 out of 23 posts of meter readers had been vacant in the district for the last five years.

The speakers said that lawyers would no more tolerate the behaviour of Pesco with the people of Chitral and would march on its local offices.
