SUKKUR, July 13: Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim reached the Sarhad railway station on Wednesday evening and reviewed the situation, especially arrangements for providing treatment to victims. Dr Rahim, accompanied by the adviser on health, Faisal Malik, also visited civil hospitals of Ghotki, Mirpur Mathelo and Pano Aqil and met the injured people.

He directed authorities to provide all possible assistance to the injured and arrange medicines from the local market if not available in hospitals. He also directed them to shift critically injured passengers to Karachi and other big cities.

He said a package for the victims would be announced later as the president and the prime minister were reviewing the situation. He said some compensation had already been announced by railway authorities.

He warned police, doctors, paramedical staff and other officials that if any negligence was found on their part, action would be taken against them after an inquiry.

Meanwhile, Abdul Sattar Edhi also reached the scene and said he was reviewing work of the Edhi network in the area. He said 70 ambulances of the foundation were engaged in the rescue work.

Mahar Welfare Association activist Naheed Mahar also arrived at the spot with four ambulances and relief goods and food.

Trade bodies of Sukkur, Ghotki, Mirpur Mathelo, Daharki, Pano Aqil and other areas are also busy in providing relief goods, food items and blood to victims.
