BAHAWALPUR, July 13: The district’s opposition leaders have decided to field a joint candidate for the nazim’s slot against Tariq Cheema’s group in the forthcoming local polls. This was stated by MNA Farooq Azam Malik while talking to Dawn on Wednesday.

He said the leaders had decided to unite under former MNA Nawab Salahuddin Abbasi, who lost the nazim’s slot against Mr Tariq Cheema in the last local elections.

The opposition would announce its candidate for the district nazim’s slot after the completion of UC-level election in August.

Opposition would field its candidates in all union councils and an announcement to this effect would be made at a joint meeting to be held on July 16, he added.
