MUZAFFARGARH: Former foreign minister Hina Rabbani Khar and her father were not summoned by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Multan office on Wednesday, but only revenue officials with the record of the Khar family.

MNA Malik Raza Rabbani Khar, who is a brother of Ms Hina, claimed that the revenue team had gone to the NAB office while his family had still not been summoned.

He said some opponents were creating baseless rumours about his family, and none of them had amassed assets illegally while they were lawmakers. When the NAB would call his family, they will comply, he added.

MNA Raza also said when Hina was the foreign minister she had got a mega project of canal lining approved for Muzaffargarh through which 800,000 acres were irrigated that were suffering for 50 years because of waterlogging. He had also got approved a Bahauddin Zakariya University campus in Muzaffargarh for masters students, he added.

He further said the Khar family worked for the people and were not involved in any corruption, adding that the land they owned had been passed down from his forefathers.

Kot Addu Assistant Commissioner Jam Aftab said his team had gone to the NAB office on Wednesday with revenue record of the Khar family.

PUNISHMENT: District Police Officer (DPO) Ghazi Salahuddin on Wednesday punished seven police officials for their alleged involvement in corruption.

The DPO took action against policemen who were involved in corrupt practices, tampered with records, took bribes and conducted substandard investigations. While talking to the media, he said there was no tolerance in the department for the corrupt.

ARREST: A seminary teacher, who beat up and fractured the arm of a seven-year-old student, was arrested by Rung Pur police on Wednesday.

Sanaullah had allegedly tortured his student Tanvir Ahmad in the seminary in Rung Pur for asking for a one-day leave. Ahmad had been sent to the rural health centre for treatment.
