QUETTA: The Balochistan government on Tuesday approved the pilot project of Quetta Green Local Bus Service.

A meeting, which was held with Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan Alyani in the chair, decided that initially the service would be launched on two routes in the city with a fleet of 10 buses and if the pilot project proved to be successful it would be extended to other areas and routes in the next financial year.

It was also decided that local transporters would be given a chance to invest in the project and tender notices for the purpose will be issued soon.

Terminals will be established at Sariab Road, Joint Road and Airport Road areas, while check-posts of the provincial transport department will be set up in bordering areas of the province, including Hub, Khuzdar, Zhob, Jaffarabad and Jhal Magsi.
