QUETTA: Retired Justice Amanullah Khan Yasinzai, governor of Balochistan and chancellor of the Sardar Bahadur Khan Women University, awarded degrees and gold medals to 700 students at a university convocation here on Tuesday.

Speaking at the 10th convocation of the university, Mr Yasinzai said it was a matter of satisfaction and pleasure that the number of students at the women’s university had exceeded 10,000.

For an enlightened, progressive and prosperous Balochistan, the need of the hour was to focus on higher education, he said. “Nobody can deny the importance of higher education. We are committed to provide better environment to girls to help them acquire higher education,” he added.

Mr Yasinzai hoped that the girls graduating from the university would utilise their creative skills in their respective fields for betterment of Balochistan. He also congratulated the faculty of the university and parents of the graduating girls.

Earlier, Vice Chancellor of the university Dr Rukhsana Jabeen presented key note address. Parliamentarians, vice chancellors of other universities and parents of the students also attended the convocation.
