ISLAMABAD: Shehab Essam of Egypt plays a return to Pakistan’s Ammad Fareed during their Serena Hotels Huawei International Squash Tournament match at the Mushaf Squash Complex on Sunday.

ISLAMABAD: Four local players made it to the quarter-finals at the Serena Hotels Huawei International Squash Tournament here at the Mushaf Squash Complex on Sunday.

Pakistan’s world number 122 Amaad Fareed caused an upset by eliminating third seed Shehab Essam (world number 71) of Eqypt in a match that ended 3-1.Earlier, Pakistan’s top-ranked Tayyab Aslam outclassed another Egyptian when he beat Omar Elkattan 11-9,11-8,13-11.

Meanwhile, Egypt’s Karim Ali Fathi also beat Yannik Omlor of Germany.

Asim Khan took 36 minutes to defeat Ireland’s Sean Conroy in 11-7, 13-11, 11-4 while experienced Farhan Mehboob tamed compatriot Syed Ali Mujtaba Bukhari 11-5, 11-5 and 11-8.
