SIALKOT, July 11: An infant drowned on Monday after a speeding van plunged into the BRB canal near Kikarwali-Salhokey village, Daska tehsil. The speeding van was going to Mianwali Bangla from Daska when the driver lost control over the steering. Villagers working in nearby fields hastened to the spot and rescued 12 passengers, including women and children. Infant Shehzab Asif of Kamalpur drowned in the canal. His body was not found till the filing of this report. The injured were admitted to the THQ Hospital, Daska.
Sadar police have registered a case against the fleeing driver.
CASE: Motra police on Monday registered a case against seven accused for allegedly kidnapping a prayer leader’s wife and his two sons from Noor-i-Madina mosque in Motra-Daska village.
Those booked included Muhammad Bashir, Shabbir, Zulfiqar Ahmad, Ameer Buksh and Saleem of Jalalpur Peerwala, Multan.
Meanwhile, Sadar police on Monday registered a case against accused Muzzamil Husain and his accomplice for allegedly raping a married woman ‘N’ at gunpoint in her house in Dheedowali village, Daska.
