LAHORE: The Nursing College of the Lahore General Hospital (LGH) will be starting a degree programme and specialisation diploma for neurosurgery soon while 20 seats will be allocated for one-year’s diploma, in addition to MSc and PhD programmes for the nursing students.

This was disclosed by Punjab Nursing Director General Kausar Parveen while addressing the oath-taking ceremony of first-year of Nursing College here at LGH on Thursday, said a handout.

On this occasion, Post Graduate Medical Institute Principal Prof Muhammad Tayyab urged the nurses to continue their untiring efforts with same zeal and fervour. He said no health system could be completed without vibrant participation of nursing chapter who performed their duties on the frontline along with doctor’s community.

Prof Tayyab said there was no doubt the nurses were the symbol of selfless sacrifice and hope for life and that was the reason that the president of Pakistan had declared 2019 as the Year of Nurses. He said the present government had taken a number of initiatives for the welfare of the nursing community.

In the ceremony, Nursing Controller Zubaida Sarwar, LGH Medical Superintendent Dr Mahmud Salahuddin, Nursing College Principal Razia Bano, Deputy Nursing Superintendent Ruqia Bano, faculty members and nursing students were present.
