LAHORE: The Martial Law Administration has taken decisions to streamline the administrative process, to cut red tape and to increase the overall efficiency of the civil administration.

According to [agency], the Provincial Governments have been asked to take immediate and concrete steps to eliminate corruption from the public service, especially at the higher echelons. Orders have been issued for expeditious disposal of all pending cases. The public servants have been further required to strictly observe Government Servants Rules of Conduct. The Martial Law Administration Zone A has taken a series of actions to implement directives of the Chief Martial Law Administrator in order to restore normalcy in law and order administration; remove industrial unrest; tackle educational problems, particularly student problems; tone up the administration to achieve greater efficiency and make daily necessities available to the common man at reasonable prices.

In spite of the fact that the responsibility was rather suddenly thrust upon the military authorities after the promulgation of Martial Law, the task assigned to them is being tackled with usual earnestness, efficiency and confidence peculiar to the military establishment. Already the law and order situation is back to normal.
