ISLAMABAD: Chief Commissioner and Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Amer Ali Ahmad on Friday said that massive tree plantation was under way, which will enhance the green area of the capital.

He was speaking at the inauguration of the Annual Spring Flowers and Birds Show at the Rose and Jasmine Garden, organised by Islamabad Horticulture Society (IHS) in collaboration with several other organisations.

The opening day of three-day event received good response from nature lovers.

The CDA chairman said such exhibitions should not be limited only to exhibiting flowers, but through such events, the city’s residents should be educated about the importance of the environment.

He said new ideas of beautification were being introduced, adding that the concept of kitchen gardening was also being promoted in the city as it has a lot of scope in Pakistan, particularly in Islamabad.

He visited different stalls established in the exhibition and praised the aesthetic sense of the stallholders.

The CDA chairman appreciated the efforts of the staff of the Environment Wing of the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad.

Representatives of Islamabad Horticulture Society and officers of Environment Wing were also present on the occasion.

The exhibition is being participated by CDA, Suparco, PHA, FBR, KRL, Floriculture Rawalpindi, Serena Hotels, PAF Hospitals and NIH laboratories.
