KARACHI: Police on Saturday registered a case against a man for raping the daughter of a maid working at a house in Defence Housing Authority (DHA).

Gizri SHO Khan Mohammed Bhatti told Dawn that the 20-year-old man, who worked as a driver at the house, was arrested in a wounded condition.

The officer said that an initial investigation had revealed that the man had allegedly raped the teenage daughter of the family’s housemaid two or three days ago.

When the housemaid complained to the woman who owns the house, she asked the driver about the allegation.

The driver rejected the allegation, but when he failed to give satisfactory answers to the questions put to him by the house owner, she opened fire apparently to scare him, said the area SHO.

However, a bullet hit him in the right thigh and he was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. Dr Seemin Jamali, the hospital’s executive director, said his condition was out of danger.
